Hi all, in the last week, I got two Working Sony CRT Screens, with all the circuit working, so I can use as a display for composite video... Here is a pic of one of the two displays:

What other things that I can do with that tubes ??

i have one of those "flat" B/W CRTs here, the driver board is a crispy critter (rain!), but it seems intact. Any use?
had a cool idea to use a PIC + lookup table to dynamically remap the scan onto the curved plate so that it can be used as a scope/spectrum analyser/etc.

I was thinking about make a simply scope or so, but I think it will be MUCH simply, because actual scopes use Capacitive Beam Deflection that can operates in much higher speeds than the coil deflection... Maybe if I rewound the coils?

it depends on what you would use it for.. for audio frequencies, it should be fine... otherwise, good luck rewinding those things in a useful way! but the nice thing about that little mod is that no modifications done are permanent... as long as you do not physically destroy the connections from the deflector coils to the main board, and most TVs will operate just as they think "normal" if you disconnect the four pin connector from the coils that goes to the board, and attach a seewp voltage to the horizontal deflections, and your test source to the vertical...

Hmm, as you can see in this video , I already did something like that once, but it didnt work good, its a a few hundreds of hertz square wave turns in a Charge/Discharge cap waveform... For sine wave works very good (as you can see in the video)
