Hello all,
I am building a guitar amp, and I want to build a preamp to boost the signal for the main amp. I have the circuit, and i have no problems with it, except for this one FET. It it called a "2N3819 general-purpose FET". The Circuit can be seen here: http://www.redcircuits.com/Page120.htm
I cannot purchase this particular transistor from any shops i know of.

It's quite a common N-channel MOSFET made by many manufacturers, so you might be looking in the wrong places. Here in the UK, RS components, Farnell and even Maplin stock it.

Indeed, it's a fairly common part, though it's a JFET, not a MOSFET. If you really can't get it, try the BF245A instead, I've built guitar preamps with these before.
