A few days ago I finished this little guitar amplifier. I found the schematic from the runoffgroove website. BTW, the whole runoffgroove site is recommended reading for anyone interested in electronics and guitars. The amplifier is based on a single LM386 with a J201 input buffer. There are two controls: Volume and Gain. The Volume pot conrols the level of the signal going to the LM386 chip. The Gain pot simply controls the gain of the amplifier chip. With the gain at minimum the cleans are quite clean, with a slight breakup. At maximum gain, there is quite harsh overdrive, depending on the speaker impedance and the volume setting. There's a built-in speaker, but also a 3,5mm mono jack for an external speaker. I like this amp quite a lot, it is almost perfect for home use.
