I cant find any of the large files that are taking up space on my hard drive. I have over 200GB of file that I cant find and are taking up space. And no, its not space reserved by the HDD because the total disk size is only 250GB. Any help?

This might be a stupid question, but do you play video games?
Last i checked Fallout 3 was around 8Gig with all the extras added in.
Throw Oblivion, WoW, Bioshock, Warhammer, and F.E.A.R on your hard drive and poof, it's full.
Another thing that might be gobbling up all your space is Music, pictures, and movies.
My family sends me any number of cute and stupid clips in their email, and my emailer wants to save it to check for viruses before I open them. A year of doing that had built up a lot of unwanted junk in the Firefox download box.

I say start in your main drive and measure all the folders and add up what they are holding.
Could be that there is one in particular that has all the space filled with junk.

1.) Run ccleaner Link2 , and select remove service pack uninstallers

2.) Run windows cleanup, and remove old restore points

3.) Run SequoiaView to see large files Link2

another thing you might try is a program called nCleaner... it finds old temporary files/folders, excessive backups, and other similar things that can take up an unbelievable amount of space on a system... unless you take care to remove such files, and not all of them are in your normal %temp% folders, then you might have these add up into the gigabytes range... I know I have on a sysytem I was asked to clean up...

just remember, almost all programs now make some kind of file like this (written off as a "convenience" or a "backup") and it just adds up over the course of a lot of programs or original files...

You might try manually poking around the file system looking for large folders. If you notice that program files is taking up 187GB and only one of the sub folders is accounting for 154GB of that, you'll know something is up. I've never found it that hard to track down huge space wasters the old fashioned way.
