I have been trying to make a tea laser for a while now. I can not get the even discharge that is required for lazing. I am using a single projector sheet as the dielectric and a small deionisier as the power supply. Could the power supply be causing my problems? Thanks

Done. Laser is still not working, all I get is about 5 sparks on different parts of the rails. Could the high voltage, low current and low wattage (>5 watts)

If your getting sparks across the channel, it could be that your electrodes "edge" isnt smooth. I believe the edge needs to be extremely uniform. The electrodes are usually the hardest part to get right of a TEA N2 laser. I dont think the high voltage section is bad if its arcing... Matt

The electrodes need to be plain aluminium, non-eloxated. If your Laser doesn't work, this may have several reasons: the discharge edges are not perfectly straight and well-aligned (you know what to do) peak voltage is too low (widen the spark gap) inductance is too high (reduce parasitic inductance loops) ...

piece of copperclad with groove hacksawed in as a top electrode :) might be worth a try, don't know about long term use though..
just a thought but it might be amusing to build an array of them on a circular piece of board with their own power sources, to generate high peak power at the centre.
EDIT:- doesen't work, the discharge channel needs to be absolutely smooth. i tried NIB magnets end to end but this also failed (probably due to the opposite electrode)
