I have been addressing lightning protection for my tower. I've dealt with high voltage apparatus in the past and am familiar with the faraday cage. I placed a grid above the stator, slip rings and wiring and connected the cage to the tower where it goes to ground. I also placed a rod extending two feet above everything. My next step will be to place a three phase arrestor. You can see more pictures at my photo diary here
I would appreciate comments from those who have worked with lightning protection or other high voltage protection schemes.
