Railgun shielding

I was recently thinking about rogowski coils and coaxial cable's, and a though came to mind. Could you shield a railgun so a exterior of aluminum would not affect it? Off course, the shielding could be the structural support...
Thoughts?

I think it would deffinatly be possible, as long as the shielding was dense enough to block the EM field. and as long as it wasnt farrace enough that the field somehow bent it or did something strange to the molecular structure
