On the Mazzilli ZVS schematic, it says that your FETs must have a voltage rating of at least 4 times your supply voltage, and have an R(ds)ON of at most 150 milliohms. The transistor he uses, the IRFP250, has a current rating of 34A.

Hope that gives you a general idea of what to look for.

As Firefox stated, you want something with less than 150 milliohms. And as for the voltage, 4 times more than the power supply would be good, and the current should be something like 30 amps, because this thing WILL draw 20 amps or even more with 40 volt supply that can handle the current without the voltage dropping.

I think people have tried that. I think you would need to decrease the pull up resistors so that the IGBT's gate can charge fast enough. If the IGBTs switch too slow, the losses increase.

The IRFP250s can be bought cheaply from ebay. The IRFP250 is a great MOSFET to use in the ZVS flyback driver.

You can use Fairchild's cross reference to search for MOSFETs that have similar ratings to the IRFP250. Link2
