I have built a flyback charger that has a 340v output and a 610v output. I can charge my cap bank to 610 with ease but to trigger my scr I have to have the gate driver circuit unplugged until I turn off the charger. I can trigger the bank whenever I want to fire the scr as long as the caps have already been charged. But if I leave the gate drive circuit on while I charge, the scr mysteriously fires before the caps can charge much. As far as I know the scr gate is low when it charges. What´s going on here?

Try twisting your gate leads together. It helps with the interference. Also short the gate lead to cathode.
