he, i managed to get 10 circuit boards from the junk yard each containing 8 to247 40n60's. Once i get them desoldered i will post them for sale. Anywayy, they are mounted to a double sided pcb and im unsure what would be the best way to desolder them. Wht are your suggestions?

Do not use a non-ESD safe vacuum pump, it'd be wise to avoid the vacuum pumps altogether, use desoldering braid, or a heat gun and pliers.
I would think that a heat gun would do better because the TO247 mounting holes must have a fair bit of solder, especially if the board is double sided, thats alot of braid, so the heat gun would probably work much better.

For large devices like that, a big bit (big enough to flow all pins at once) on a powerful iron is a pretty easy way (2 irons can also work!) . You need something that can put a lot of heat in quickly to reduce the risk of damage though. It often helps to put some fresh solder on first to improve thermal contact - low-melting point (2% silver) stuff is best. Floiding with LMP solder also makes leadfree solders easier to unsolder.
Braid is often not great on through-plated PCBs, although if you don't care about wrecking the PCB, it can often get enough off by braiding both sides to be able to pull the leads through, typically taking the plating with it.

I use this method when soldering IC's with no sockets, but it should work with a heat gun. Hold a wet paper towel to the IGBT. This keeps the chip temp down, but the solder still melts.

It makes things much easier to chop the board down to the bare minimum with a pair of snips so you have the devices isolated on a small island of board, before taking any of the excellent advice above.
