Power Supply Smoothing

I have a stepped up 1500 VAC output. I have the circuit on a bridge diode however, I'm having trouble finding the right capacitor to smooth the current wave.

Is there a formula that I can use to find the appropriate capacitance and voltage to smooth the output?

It depends on how much you want to smooth the supply. You need a ripple specification. You can't practically have nearly pure DC with just a cap.

You need to know what the load is as well. The load and filter capacitor have an RC time constant, and depending on the desired ripple which is better expressed as a percent of the supply voltage, you can find the maximum time between filter "charges" aka the frequency of your AC source. This is backwards from what you want of course, you'll need to look up the formula and rearrange it yourself. First find the discharge %, then with the frequency you find the time constant, and finally determine the size of C required with a given R to get the discharge % desired.

EDIT: Beat by two posts! Billybobjoe's method is much simpler.

A rough rule which usually produces good results is that a minimum of 10,000uF per amp will smooth a 50Hz supply sufficiently for most practical purposes.
