Hey all, today I have found in the Mercado Livre (Brazillian ebay xP, of the ebay group too), two used scopes that seens to be good,

first of all, I know the prices here are expensive compared that I can find at ebay, but I cant import anything to here without getting massive taxes on it (even if it comes as gift)

Ok, what I find here:

One Labo 15Mhz Double Trace Scope (Working perfect) - R$450 - US$160~
One Kenwood TRIO CS-1575 5Mhz Double Trace (Working, but need to be calibrate) - R$378 - US$140~
New Icel 10Mhz Scope (Single Trace) - R$578 - US$215~

Ok, the Labo seens to be the most prefered alternative, but Labo doesnt exist anymore (as I know) so if I need anything, I wont have. The Kenwood is only 5Mhz but kenwood exists, and I **can** buy some parts if I need.
The Icel is New, but only one trace, and 10Mhz. And its the expensive one (but I have one year warranty)
Icel Scope Specs:
-Frequency 10MHz;
-One channel;
-Maximum Voltage: 400Vpk;
-Sensibility: 5mV/div;
-Signal for calibration;
-Rise time: 35nS;
-Sweep time: 0,1u a 0,1s/div;
-1MOhm / 30pF;
-CRT 8X10 divisions (1,2KV);
-Trigger In;
-Trigger Source: LINE, EXT e INT;
-Trigger Mode: NORM, AUTO e TV;

Ok, I have that choices, what is the best?

Thanks for all and merry christimas for all =D

Go for the Labo 15MHz of those listed, its dual traced and working perfect, a good start for a precision instrument :)

Old analog scopes are not likely to die and will last for very long, I also have some old 20MHz scope that I cant even find a manual for. New parts for old scopes are properly not going to be cheap anyway.

Most important thing here have got to be the dual trace, its what I have enjoyed the most, being able to monitor a input vs output.

Dual trace is really a must for monitoring input vs output, or one stage of a chain of IC's vs the output. Used is just as good as new so long as the previous owner took good care of it.

No! Do not buy anything less than 100MHz. A scope below 100MHz will not catch the ringing in a switching circuit.

just look at the horrible prices he already got on the slower old used scopes :)

so far I have done fine with a 20MHz and will buy a better when I find one at a price I think suits my needs :)

I'm doing just fine with a 25Mhz scope myself, it really depends on what kind of circuits or coils you make.

Hm, I am planing to use it for tune my drsstc's and sstc's, yeah the prices here are no good at all, not much people buy scopes, so its rare to find someone who is selling, I think I will get that Labo 15Mhz scope in January, that will help me a lot to do my SSTC's and DRSSTC's work (I dont own a scope now, so a few times I use the scope of my school, that is a Minipa 20Mhz dual trace with a few nice things, it can measure frequency, duty cicle, voltage, all at the screen, but its analog I think, it uses tube.

I think 15Mhz for DRSSTC (assuming I will get no more than 240Khz, that is my smallest drsstc coil) I will have no problems ( I can get much of the harmonics in the way).
