Hello, i found a television with a nice big tube in it. It is apparently 36mc6. The place i go to is Franks electron tube datasheets, but it does not have the data sheet, and i cannot find it anywhere. Plate is bigger than the 811a! Surely less voltage, but still pretty impressive. Pics attached.
Update: Never mind, Myke showed me the datasheet. Thanks Myke! And sorry that i had to start a thread.

Strange to say, I was looking through the line output valve (US: "sweep tube") (otherwise "horizontal deflection valve") data sheets earlier this evening, and thinking that much more could be done with them.
The common European type PL509 can manage 7kV peak anode volts, and half an amp of cathode current, which makes it a valve to be reckoned with.
I see the relatively low anode voltage of these valves as being a positive advantage, as no costly transformers are necessary to power them.
These valves can often be picked up on ebay for next to nothing, and there's not much to be said against them but for their odd heater voltages, which were designed for series connection in TV sets.
There was a vogue for using them in ham radio linear amplifiers for SSB some years ago, because they were so much cheaper than regular transmitting types, so they are really quite versatile and suitably robust for all manner of high voltage driver experiments, I should say.
