I need a number check on a photon having 500keV. What is the wavelength?

NM i was using J vs eV

Let's see, the wavelength (in meters) would be h*c/E*q; where h is planck's constant (6.626E-34 J*sec), c = velocity of light in vacuum (2.9979E8 m/sec), E is the energy in ev, and q is the electron charge (1.602E-19 C)...so if E = 500 kev, you end up with:

wavelength (meters) = 1.24E-6/5E5 = 2.48E-12 meters

Edit: Just so you don't get confused by the units, 1 joule of energy is the amount of energy needed to accelerate 1 coulomb of charge through a potential difference of 1 volt...thus coulombs = joules/volt...so to make the dimensions work out, think of "q" as joules per volt of energy rather than electron charge.

Something I was taught to make these problems easier is that hbar*c=197.33eV*10^-9m or 197.33eVnm and hc=1240eVnm
