I'm looking into building a filter for my NST (15kv, 60mA), and I decided to make a Terry Filter. I alread have the MOVs, The only remaining parts are the resistors, and I have a few questions:
1) Somewhere I heard that you have to use Film Capacitors, is this true?
2) Can I just use 1 (well, 2 total, one on each side) 10kv, 550pF capacitor with a 60M ohm (that can stand the voltage) resistor (or maybe just 6, 10M 1/2watt). Or does this not work with ceramic capacitors
3) Is the diagram right? Am I suppose to attach NST ground to RF Ground?

It has been awhile since I worked on my TC, but if I recall 1. my NST was connected to its own ground, which is not the same as the secondary ground 2. the resistor was something like 1000k with a 100-250W rating (not 60M) 3. the capacitor was something like 500pf doorknobs. I had two to increase the voltage rating to 30kv per side
I had this setup for each leg of the transformer secondary. I got the components on Ebay.
Don't forget to get an EMF filter going into the primary of the transformer to protect your components in your house.
Also, you should do a google/yahoo search for "terry filter" so you can see the setup.
