I'm in need of a circuit to charge my 60v 90000uf cap bank from a 12v source, and after looking at this capacitor charger, i changed the design and values slightly and came up with this circuit

Can you guys see any problems/possible improvements? Im planning on the diode, mosfet, and inductor all being rated to 100v 5A minimium, do these values sound ok?

thanks

matt

I'd use a small inverter myself. Cheap, and reliable.

now, im not to savvy about amplifiers or comparators, but don't they need both a positive and NEgative voltage feed?(like a voltage that is below ground)

i myself am using a cap from the voltage divider output to the base lead of a 2n3904, which actuates the charging/discharging. seems to me like it would be easier and simpler
