So uh, when you say change the frequency of the 555, you mean change the resistors on it, and not add a crystal right? When I get home ill try to change the frequency and see if I get changed.

Other than that, it's not my coil inductor or pot then? :D

Also reminds me to re-connect my lm311 to its power. woops. I disconnected it as a test for charging and made no difference so, the led does trip on when i get to 80 but meh.

guitardude012, 12V to LM311?

Yep. Spec sheet says 5-36V is good.

Quick question...I got a left-over motor housing from a 120V paper shredder. Recently to make my coil (until i buy 20guage), I used its magnetic coils to make mine. Let me explain...

This is like a 2.5X2 1.5 inch metal case. Metal like you find on transformer, where if u try to take it apart, its slice by slice. Of corse the motor spindle has magnet wire. BUT it also had 2 very large thick coils for the magnet, instead of normal magnets. Now, I hammered the coils out of the glued cuts. Now im left with a empty metal frame with a big 1 inch round hole. MY QUESTION:

What if I put this frame around my coil? Would it effect the eddys and make it shoot less? Or actually help since its a round frame that was originally used for 2 super coils, and a motor?

it might help. im guessing it would be very similar to barrys external transformer iron. idk, make it removeable, and test it with and without the projectile.

Yeah, I today removed the other coil from it so I can use it. It's a good size like I mention, and the 4 U cuts are from holding the big coils (on top) that are the 120V electromagnets.

ThThpix Heh, it's an artwork?

cool cool
bt if your going for external iron, make sure that the iron is close to your coil, and that the leaves align with the direciton of the magnetic field, and are not perpendicular to it.

Yeah for now my coil doesnt hit it, I plan to remake a coil since mine is shit. I mean, 80V, im lucky it fires a few feet. Since due to past issues, one shot ripped the coil out with it, and well, it was a hasle to put back in, so i just leave it hanging out :P Yet oddly, it still fires good. but i will HAVE to replace this. So yeah, Like i said in my PM, i used Link2 for my schematic.

Lol, I replaced the 15K resistor on the 555 with a 1MOHM for fun, and it makes this weird low pitch buzzy ring sound.. like camera chargers, just low pitch it works, better.. now i can easly get passed 150 :D :D :D

Yet my 12V 300ma wall socket still wont charge fully yet, maybe 150V but.. to me its not a stable ringing, its like staticy. Any other suggestions I can change to make it charge better? 1MOHM really did a lot. my 9V battery even hits 150V.

I separated the voltage comparator from the circuit, and made this circuit:
Voltagecomparator
the 330VDC lines are attached to my capacitor bank
does this circuit work?
greetz
