So I guess to power this im going to have to be limited to a power plug for a 12V transformer from a wall socket. I was hoping i could use a battery to power it. Like cam ones of corse are built to do 1.5 to 330V. but only does my circuit to 100. Sucks :( Guess I cant make this a full portable device then :(

Yeah, on a 12V 300ma item it takes like 10 secs to get to 100V..roughly. and stops.

Also, the led should stay off until its at its set max volt right? Still cant get pass 100V xD

what if instead of using 1 inductor, you use the boost converter setup in series with a transformer. would that make greater voltage due to the transformers turn ratio?

You don't need a 12V wall socket. I can tell you the boost charger works on a 8 pack of AAs, though I would imagine an 8 pack of C or D cells would be better. You could also use a small 12V gel-cell or even a car battery. Model aircraft batteries would work well, as you can often draw a good deal of amperage from them.

Jepp, it's known as a flyback converter. Transformer based designs are much better than a boost converter for this, but more complex.

Thanks for all your help dude. I think my 2500 mah energizers (1.5V AA rechargable) will do the trick. When I used 2 Duracell on my camera circuit, all good. Tryed the energizers, fresh batch, well... the charger smoked. These are some good high lasting batterys, Sure it will own a boost converter :D

Has anyone try those battery packs? like what you find in a RC car? The best I could find at radio shack was 7V, 20,000 mah. and 9.6V, 1600 mah.

Are these types good to use? If so maybe ill go hunting for some 12V ones and something over 2000mah.

edit
Something must be wrong. I used a wall transformer, 12V, 4A and it charged no faster than even my 9V did. Can someone check if these 2 parts are good? It's my only guess what it may be. I mean my pot is a variable resistor. 2 pins, and well, id hope the side&bottom metal holders are pin 3. Cuz, Theres a 2nd deal. EVERYTHING i power it with, can go to 80V. and stops naer 100. Im wondering if its the pot, cuz changing it, did no difference. even a 7V power supply for a hand-drill didnt go over 100. I do have a tiny 3-pin 10K pot that I can try if you guys suggest it.

try running it at a higher frequency, toloroids tend to saturate quite easily

I used a 220 uH inductor, because someone said I could use inductors between 100 and 300 uH
do I need to cahnge te frequency? because my boostconverter doesn't stop charging, even when i ajust the 10K pot :S

ow and by the way
doesn't the LM311 need it's own power source? because my boost converter keeps on charging...
in the schematics it doesn't...

It does need its own power source. In Uzzors schematic Link2 the 12v source and ground are shown, they are the vertical lines that go into the LM311. This is how the "rails" are shown in schematics for comparators and op amps.
