fiberglass for HV transformer case ?

I've been having trouble finding reliable information about this, so I figure I'll ask here:

Are there any issues with common transformer oils and fiberglass resins?

Would a suitably strong fiberglass transformer enclosure be suitable for final vacuum treatment?

how thick? The easiest way and best way to make sure is to put a sample on a small piece for awhile, and possiably heat the oil to see if thats a problem.

It would be better to use a alu case, it would also help with the heat.

There is such a wide range of oil and chemical resistance amongst resins that you would be best to consult the manufacturer's data sheets before making a decision.

Abstract
Several thermoplastics and an epoxy were exposed to a variety of conditions to determine the effect of chemical environment on the materials. Weight gain measurements of the samples were made after exposure to low humidity, ambient air, 90°C air, ambient transformer oil, and 90°C transformer oil. Two materials that performed well in these tests were polyetherimide (Ultem) and amine cured bisphenol-A epoxy. It was found that Noryl, a thermoplastic combination of high impact polystyrene and polyphenyleneoxide, was unsuitable for use in transformer oil, as it suffered substantial physical degradation. Polystyrene and high impact polystyrene (rubber modified polystyrene) performed poorly in both ambient and 90° transformer oil tests, with the rubber modified material exhibiting a much greater weight gain. Both high and low density polyethylene also showed large weight gains in hot transformer oil.

Hello:

Just FYI I can into several HV research sites, and one commercial one in Pakistan who sell VM power supplies up to 1,000,000 V at .5ma.

They package them in large commercial epoxy-fiberglass pipe, under oil. I know this pipe from past experience. So oil should be OK as long as you use epoxy resin, but a few phone calls to the manufacturers of this type of pipe may pay off in the form of cheap remnants etc, also a double ended bolt flange section would make a sweet container for a big oil, or SF6, filled HV power supply.

I have noticed recently that nobody wants to mess with SF6 gas, I plan to buy a 20# tank for my VM next year, maybe if there is enough interest we could split up a bigger tank as a group? SF6 is realy cool stuff 2-3 times the dielectric strength of air at normal pressure. Also to save gas 92% cheap CO2 with 8% SF6 is almost 2 times air.
