New Heatsinks

Hi,

today I have finished to get this heatsink like new by polishing it (a bit) and cleaning. I make the hole for the IRFP250 too.

I was thinking about it, can I push 1000W or so with Halfbridge of IRFP250 with those heatsinks? (Each mosfet on each heatsink)

1) 1000W for voltage power supply (high power factor)? Yes.
2) 1000W for inductively limited current supply (arcs, capacitor charging)? Maybe, but I think they will be getting very hot. Remember that pushing 1000W with inductively current limited supply means 4000VA with short-circuited output.
3) Maybe you meant for "ZVS" driver? If so, I think that should be without bigger problems.

Hmm, I was not mean the ZVS driver, I am building a SSTC with that heatsinks and IRFP250N (200V 30A). I am running here now something like 450W without get any heat on the fets or heatsink. Three Turns on the primary coil, and perfect tunned.

But I think to use it on a DRSSTC with some IGBT's that I have sampled from ST Microelectronics, also I want to test a Induction Heater.
Thats why I asking if I can push 1000W with that :P

Thanks! I just found it in some old computer stuff, and its two exact same. I took me two hours to get it usable :P

I think for SSTC they should be fine to 1000W, as with higher powers and good coupling the transistors are more-or-less soft switching.

You could join them toe to toe and put a fan in at the end, this should increase
your chances of pushing it to high power levels.

I am using now one fan (8x8, normal ones) to get it cool. I running at 450W~ SSTC and it didnt get any heat. I will try to reduce turns and get higher coupling.

I was thinking about it using for some mini-bricks that I plan to buy. If you see in the upper area, there is a square area that can have a mini-brick. That is a good heatsink for each one? (Like 40N60 ones)
