You know, its funny... of all of the engineers i have as friends, im the only damn one who can reasonably design a transformer without freaking out. Whats that all about? Was i the only one to pay attention in electromechanics 101? :P

Good article though, even i forget some stuff from time to time wink.

we didnt really have electromechanics, and even if we did, the teacher was soo busy trying to shove pointing vectors down our throats so much we never got to the real importance of the topic which was more then just the math.

The only time I ever had any transformer design was in my power EE class and that was for iron cores, never even got to ferrites, HF amps, power amp design, audio power amps, any of that. As far as I got to go was a 3.3V Op Amp in PSpice. So yea.. this is kinda a big deal for me.

Excellent treatment, the sort of thing I would like to have written, had I the time or patience, or clarity of thought. Go up one level and he gives some projects, the few I've looked at are similarly well written.

Yes Dr. Arc, I did find it from your post in the battery charger thread smile I thought it was a great article, should we link to it from the HVWiki or something?

I checked out some of the guy's other projects, my favourite was probably his hydro powered holiday home :D
