I'm tempted to buy a batch of IGBTs, they are Toshiba 900V 60A (120A Ipeak for 1ms) IGBTs, would these be useful for flyback drivers/TCs, coilgun/railguns, etc? Its a batch of 20 or so on Ebay (I'm somewhat intentionally fuzzing the details just incase someone tries to scoop the lot of IGBTs), so its very tempting to buy.
It seems like one of the issues with IGBTs for use with TCs is switching time, the IGBT has a switching time under 1us, and for 1ms pulses currents of 100A are fine. Does anyone think this IGBT is too whimpy for this kind of usage? The datasheet on their IGBT series says its good for things like induction heating, UPS inverters, etc. The bid ends soon so any input would be appreciated...

Since I'd get so many of them cheap, I wouldn't be as afraid of blowing a few, I've never used IGBT's before but I'm familiar with SCRs.
As far as I know a SCR is avalanche based and once you trigger it, voltage must drop below a certain point for current to stop flowing where IGBTs can be turned on and off which means I can shape pulses?

Bah, some plod outbid me (probably by a darn large amount too given that it went over my bid). Anyone know any good cheap sources for decent IGBTs for H-bridges?
