I'm new by the way.
Umm, this may seem stupid, but I have no idea how to control the discharge of a photoflash cap with a microcontroller without the microcontroller fragging on me because of the fact that the microcontroller can't handle that much voltage. I'd like the microcontroller to control how many are discharged...and could someone point me in the right direction to charging multiple with a 9V on a circut without over or under charging them. Just so you know, I ead a bunch of tutorials and they didn't help me out at all with this problem
help or links to help would be appreciated

you have to use a SCR. The controller gives a signal to the gate of the SCR, allowing it to conduct the larger power.

I would think about using an optoisolator driving an SCR or similar. Microcontrollers are very sensitive to voltage spikes.
