Hello community ,
I am a Italian fan of high tension and would need a council to build a probe for high tensions, I need this for AC high voltage max 200Kv ( yes , 200 Kvolts!) ,freq max 50 Hz.

I was building one and then found a commercial model built by RCA back in the 1950's. What I found was that I needed a solid design with a arc ring to protect the hand: which was a major design issue. I also went with a 50M ohm 100W resistor (if the thing is to be fed into a standard DMM) and I was shooting for 50k. I believe you could check for some existing threads on "HV probes" and get a lot of information.
Mine works however. (it has a ground; inter-mixed in design with the probe) which is VERY important. And essentially has it's own little multi-meter for it's use alone. You would be surprised who much design plays an important role in safety and accuracy with an HV probe.
You CAN find them used: but it's lucky to get one inexpensively. Keep reminding yourself of what low frequency, high current, large AC will do and it will keep you conservative in your construction designs
