Don't you hate it when you try to take something apart to get some magnet wire but later you find out that it is glued together. Does anyone know of any ways to seperate this stuff?

I've done that several times and boiling water with slight knocks from a wooden object works IF the varnish isn't ridiculously thick. Once you get it "started" and have a little tub of boiling water (keep putting it back in to warm up the material) it may come off quite well. BUT if the winding is a complexity of twists & turns it gets a bit tiresome.
Acetone is too strong a solvent if you need to keep that insulated but hot vodka (dilute ethanol) may work on a very messy, large amount of varnish without totally removing the insulation. Rapping with slight force (like with a small piece of broom stick) by bumping the "blobs" of varnish that are the main problem.
