Hello, I was just wondering if there is a way to make an induction heater with 2 microwave transformers and 2 capacitors? It would be nice if I did not have to go out and purchase more electronics to make this because most of the money I have is going into my 3kj coilgun. Any information you have is greatly appreciated.

No. Microwave capacitors are rated for dc only and if you use them with ac they will explode and leak. Also, induction heaters use around 300khz or something like that. I have read that someone used a simple 555 oscillator and fet and got good results. He used a few tens of turns for the coil and something like 50 volts..

Microwave capacitors are made for DC and AC, but these capacitors are not suited for induction heating, if you're going to make an induction heater I think you should read Richie's page about induction heater and try some of that.

Yes, they are used for AC, but remember you are talking about 50/60Hz AC at under 1A RMS. For an induction heater you will be using many 10s of kHz at orders of magnitude more current.
