i just played around with my new 6 stage cockroft walton for a while and noticed something strange. when i feed it 7,5V AC (50-60Hz) i get 36 volts witch drop drops to 31 over a few seconds. the strange thing is, when i feed it 12V (also 50-60Hz) it gives off 31 volts from the start and stays there.
how can i get a lower/same voltage when i feed it more?
im using 50v 22uf capacitors and 1000v diodes
im getting 31 volts out with a 12v input should't it be 768 volts? even at 24 volts in im still getting 31 volts

Problem aside, if you have a 6-stage CW multiplier, if you put 12VAC input, you should only get 72VAC output. Not sure where you get 768 volts from?
Plus 22uF is a lot of capacitance. I'm willing to bet you don't have enough input power to charge / discharge those 22uF capacitors every cycle, so you're only getting a small voltage on each of them.
In Summary, the best output you'll get in ideal situations is 72V with 12V input.
