I created a small VTTC. Parameters:
Secondary: 7 inch length, 1 diameter, 0.1 mm wire (1800 turns).(1 MHz resonant freq.) Primary: 25 turns with 0.5 mm wire. Tube: GU-50 (Russian tube: 1.2 kV 60ma current) Sparks are about 2 inch length. Some photos:

Very nice! I made something similar with an old pentode out of an old tv and got about 1/2 inch sparks with 700volts in and very little current. Now someone should try a vttc with a small heptode(5 grids!)!

I use in this coil 3X multiplier and 900volts on anode. Anode current in in this coil is more than 40 ma.
I create nanoVTTC some mounth ago. Primary: 20 yurns with 0.5mm wire, secondary is 700turns. Power voltage is 250 V.Resonant freqency: 9.2 MHz. After start of testing and search resonance a saw a small flame 5 mm length !!!
