Hot arc is an understatement. I irritated my brother by playing with the arc around the insulation. It made a good deal of flame and smoke. I love those scanner boards.

Ha! I do that to my brother too. I used an mot and nst and REALLY smoked the room up.
But anyway, like i said i have an ignition source for the gun and i need no more suggestions, But i might actually try the scanner thing. One day i took apart a scanner and i got alot of components, a few scrs and a little induction motor. It was the best thing i have ever taken apart to this day!

Wow, am I a pro? I didn't know that.
Another way for easy HV could be to get some disposable cameras and make a good-sized CW multiplier out of the caps and diodes on the camera boards. A plenty of cool stuff can be done with that. It was kinda my first HV experiment It was also my debut project at 4HV

I used the disposable camera + CW multiplier for my spudgun ignition system. I added a couple caps to the output to make sure the spark was nice and hot, it works great, only thing is it kills AA batteries pretty fast.
