hey all.
im working on a small coilgun and i need a trigger, i found This.
i was wondering, how can i calculate the maximum amount of uF at 300v i can switch with the thyristor.

also, how do i figure out the "amps" of a capacitor based on uF?

Each capacitor is different so you need to read the datasheet for that too.

now i just need to figure out the inductance(H) of my coil, any suggestions?
i read somewhere that you can calculate it with a sinewave generator but i don,t have acces to one

Without a scope or LC meter you'll need to use math to estimate the inductance. Link2 Make sure you find one for multilayer coils.

I find the mains to be a handy sinewave for measuring inductance.

Definitely use the site saz linked to, its very good. Don't forget to check out his RLC simulator as well, its number 3 on the Mark II menu. RLC sim will take your capacitor and coil specs and tell you peak amps, among other things.
