I need some assistance in figuring out that the maximum voltage that this SCR can handle. The current appears to be clearly listed, but not the Volts. Thanks!

There are couple ofsimilar types showed that don't have similar max voltage, so what type are you exactly looking for?

Mine are the 57/20s. Is that chart at the top the actual listing of max voltages? I kind of ignored them because my little cheat sheet said those values were repetitive peak off state and reverse blocking voltages...

Well ''repetitive'' should mean max voltage so you can use it.
If you are trying to push them to absolute limits its bad idea and you can fry them fast, lets say none of that SCRs isnt good idea for over 500 -600V...

Where did you get those values? I've been firing my coils at 700+ volts hundreds of times with them.

The voltages at the top of the datasheet are the ones you should be concerned about.

OK, thanks a bunch...I didn't want to guess wink This means when I get my second (identical) bank and series it for 1400v I should be safe...I'll be using a larger coil to keep the amps the same. My particular SCRs are the /20, so that means it should handle up to 2000v, and I'll be well under that.

I'm still wondering where the 500-600 recommendation by Firkragg came from.

These two datasheets are product catalogues for mainly SCRs by Teccor. The first listed datasheet provides a quick terminalogy section and the second datasheet covers the whole theory. These parts are not the large Int-A-Packs like you have but the terms are the same.

I said how much would I push them, rather advice than something from datasheet :)

Getting too close to their max blocking voltage can cause that spike from inductive kick blows them, btw you can use spark gap when voltage gets so high (1400V)

Experiment at your own risk but beware that you can blow your SCRs far more easily.

Thanks for all the info guys...I have some spares so I'll try feeding 1400v through one and see what happens. I'm trying to avoid spark gaps / mechanical switches / etc because of the high losses.
