Im looking for some high power diodes to protect my SCR (110$ so not taking any chances), but all the ones i see eaither have no reverse surge current rating, or there extremely low, like 30ma. Its being used in anti parrallel with the coil, so it needs to be fast. can anyone point me to one? 1200v ~5500A surge (forward).

Well, diodes only should conduct one way (forward) so a reverse surge current rating isnt a factor. Just look on ebay, like which was the first one I clicked on after looking for about 10 seconds. You wont get 1200V but 2 in series should get you close, and probably a lot more than 5500A surge. If you look around ebay thoroughly, over a period of time, you could probably find exactly whatever you might need.
