Started collecting goodies to build this coil round about December.
Parts came from many different suppliers, but I finally got everything I needed to start putting it together April first.

The boards. . . .

Cheap Primary Support. . . .

McMaster-Carr has the 12"X12"X.5" Type1 PVC for $75.00 apiece. . . . cry
I have Momma's cutting board, Wal-Mart had one 15'X20 for 10Bux.

To measure the Primary support mounting holes, I did not have precise measuring tools, so I Drilled a hole in the middle of the board and used an old plastic ruler I found in my trunk. With holes measured to where I would need them, I used it just like a compass.

Like so. .

I figured that the ruler that Dan used to measure his threading holes for the primary coil was some super accurate, laser guided, computer controlled doo-ma-flicky that I would never be able to afford. So I did what I could by measuring out the length/width/height of the supports to his specifications, and then made a stencil for the drilling. . .

The Box is half inch particle board all around and I only plan to use the plastic for the top.

Wirenut and Austin helped out a bunch by posting their pics in This thread.

It gave me an Idea of how I was going to place everything and has a massive amount of great information.

John Freau Toroid came in on Monday.
Decided to just go with it, since I always wanted one, and it is listed in the parts list.
He does beautiful work, the thing is flawless.

Unwound

Bought some of that stone fleck paint to go on the sides. . .

Just to give you an idea how little space you have.

Topdown

Mounted the Half-Bridge vertical to save on space and maximize the airflow through the heat sink.

Placement

Also, just bought the advanced modulator board. Will post pics of that after I get back from vacation.

Looks really cool so far, but curious as to what makes it Red-Neck style?

BTW you and I have the same oscilloscope.

Umm. . . .
I used a cutting board instead of the $75.00 PVC, and I refuse to wear shoes.
I also Used wood and 1x1'a for the bottom of the box.
I'm a Red-Neck, so I guess it's how a red-neck makes a Minibrute.

When you said you were building dans minibrute i was like amazed and your like shades and its all like suprised !
This making sense? Anyway... I can not wait to see this sucker running! I am so glad i 'know' someone who has a minibrute.
Btw you and i have the same drill press. Harbor Freight Tools rules! I just bought 9 packs of 6 alligator clip, (calculates for 5 years) that is 54 alligator clips for just 3 bucks! 37 cents a piece!

Indeed, and it is only a mile and a half from my house. cheesey

On a side note, momma didn't notice her cutting board was missing. . . ( I actually bought it at Wally World for 10bux)
Started tapping my heat sink tonight and am trying to find a way to "mount" the big 'lytics in the box without them being too close to the control board.
Dan mentions using "high current bus bar" to power the half bridge, but then says that his solution was not ideal due to the large surface area or something.
I think I might use copper strip to power the Half bridge if I can get some tool dip to hold on to it.
That way I can use the copper strip like big, flat wires and bolt them directly to the terminal screws of the 'lytics and the Half bridge, while still having them be insulated.

Anyone use tool dip for this in the past?
