TL494 duty cycle

I am trying to wire the tl494 so that zero control voltage=zero duty cycle (and increasing the voltage increases the d.c. linearily). So far any combination I have tried results in zero control voltage=maximum duty cycle. Any ideas how to wire it up?

Is there any reason you can't use the internal comparators instead? Otherwise I would use a differential amplifier to make an inverter of sorts, so 0-1.2V on the input gives 1.2-0V on the output.

Ok, so let's say I am an op-amp n00b tongue How would I go around making an "inverter" with the internal comparators? I wonder if there would be any problems with the diodes on their outputs.

It would be harder with the internal comparators, but they could be used to manipulate the duty cycle directly instead. Like shown here Link2 . You might have to short pin 1 and 3 instead to get what you want, and feed the pot to pin 2. (making it an inverting amplifier)

If you used an external op-amp: wire it like a differential amplifier with 1.2V on the positive input and 0-1.2V on the negative input, and feed the output to pin 4.
