First time working with SCR's, Whats the auxillary cathode? is it to trigger it, you apply voltage to withe throught thin Red, and that allows the anode (case) to conduct to the thick red?
Also, what kind of diode will i need to protect it from backflow, does it need to be High-speed?

Well i tested it, i applied 16v with a 220 ohm resistor to the gate, it closes =) Any idea how much this SCR is worth? i saw a guy on ebay selling 780$, but that is WAY overpriced. This is for a school project, so i wanted to give the company who gave it to me proper credit.
How high would i be able to go in uF at 1000v? i played with barry's RLC sim, but what is the highest capacitance i could go for 5000A short circuit current?

The auxiliary cathode is connected the exact same way as the regular cathode; its just separate so you can connect the gate and cathode to your control circuit easily, leaving the regular cathode for the high-current path. You should be able to test continuity between the two.
