Depends. If the isolation transformer has 1:1 turns ratio, there would be no AC on the "DC control" tab, but on my (small) iso. xformer the ratio is quite far from 1:1 to compensate for losses.

That won't work, unfortunately. The DC current flows through both windings in opposite direcitons, so the MMFs generated will cancel, and the core won't see any flux due to the DC.
