Hi, im currently engaged in some special effects, including simulating musket fire. Musket fire-sound that is...!
Therefore im requesting some ideas on how to trigger a handful of these sound markers, but with a small delay in between so the don't go of the exact same time!

My problem is the delay circuit! The rest is already figured out.

btw. My source is 16 X 1½V AA batteries!

Thx in advance

How about a 4017 and a 555? That should do it.

Is this going to be used once or many times? How reliable must it be? Do you want the same delay between each shot?

Im thinking, several times and maybe multible circuits to answer the demand of multible sound markers!...
The actual delay time is not that importent for me. The main issue is just that they doesn't sound as one bang.

thx ZB, I will have a look at the 2 IC's you mentioned...

But there must be tons of alternatives right?

There are thousands of alternatives. I would have used a single chip $1 microcontroller and made 3-4 different sequences that could be selected by a button. The suggestion made by Zb should be possible to build by anyone. If you are not used to microcontrollers you will need to invest a bit more time but will have a much more flexible result,

Sometimes a stick drawing on sand is better than a supercomputer.
Whats wrong with 5 simple momentary switches in a position under the fingers of one hand. As variable, repeatable, reliable and cheap as you like.

Because I will be 300meters away with the RC-remote in my hand smile

300meters is pretty far away for just simulating musket fire.
RC-remotes are relatively risky unless theyre made in a fancy way so that random signals wont trigger the load.

There are a few questions that have not been answered......If this is for special effects, does the "sound" need to be overplayed in another recording? Interposed or on top? Why NOT use recordings or synthesized material?

If this needs to be done at 300 M away with an RC remote I get the feeling it needs to be "live". And if so why....for a special effects agenda?

TTBoMK RC remotes are very flaky at 300 M ! Professional efforts would use Radio-relay professionally designed.... But I guess i am really curious about the parameters & real agenda. Are you a raw recruit in special effects?

I'm involved in some civil war reenactment stuff, so the effects need to be as real as possible, concerning smoke, sound etc. I am having a hard time imagining anything synthesized even getting remotely close the reel thing...the audience will get their moneys worth of dB, smoke and cascades of dirt flung in the air...
Btw. My RC equipment is proffesionally designed to this very purpose.
The distance is just to compensate for my lack of will to wire all these effects. smile

My only problem is the delay-circuit, described above... Thx for the interest in the subj. so far.
