Hi guys,
I've just get an idea, maybe completely stupid but where else I could ask... wink

What if I make a SSTC primary from coaxial like cable (for example fat microphone cable) and use the inner cable as a source of signal for driving the feedback loop? Could this be the way to substitute current transformer?

I'm pretty sure the metal sheath will isolate the inner conductor from any fields generated by the secondary, however this may work for primary feedback, which is very rare to see on SSTCs.

Well, the coupling would be very close to 1 so you would practically see the same waveform as on your primary... not useful at all.

Even if you made the coupling = 1 primary feedback on a tipycal SSTC would defeat it's purpose, you *want* the magnetizing inductance of the primary to make your current lag a bit.

I don't think mate's proposal would work well in any case, magnetic coupling coupling to the primary coil would be much higher than to the secondary and probably all that would happen would be a destructive resonance with your DC blocking cap.

Current transformar feedback is very easy and neat, I don't see really any reason why not use it.
It seems that there's just general lack of good driver designs implementing CT's, everyone still for some reason seems to be sticking to crappy 'antenna' and somehow making it to work after all even with bad phase shifts.
