Me,and i am sure some others, want some simple solid state tesla coils. I want this to be like the old 4hv thread "sstc challenge". I have build two royer based tesla coils from that thread. If anyone would like to see tha thread it is hear....http://old.4hv.org/index.php?board=7; action=display;threadid=5623
If anyone has a simple sstc, post it hear plz!

I have a simple SSTC circuit but it needs testing still. I might try it this weekend and see how it works. I'll post it afterwards unless someone wants to try it.

Heck,I'll try it. I have made a royer oscillator and a 555 oscillator made to run this coil

I'll post it tonight. The point of it was to use only common parts. No special gate drivers etc.

Okay here is what I have. You can simplify the interrupter or leave it out if you want.

Im sorry. Let me clarify this. The only semiconductor you can use is the switch. Everything else must be passive.(not including the rectifiers for input voltage). I dont wanna have to use any mosfet drivers or anything other than transistors mosfets or igbt's. Like on RayR's site. Something like the single transistor flyback driver but for a sstc. I just wanna see what some people can come up with(actually so i can built a simple one before i build my more advanced one!)

Tom540's coil didn't have any mosfet drivers, the only ic.s it had was a nand and 555's, and u could even leave the 555's out (although I don't know how it would start up). If you want no Ic.s try the royer(mazilli/ZVS), I believe someone on here built a tesla coil with it.

I still think Steve's MicroSSTC has the best simplicity/performace ratio. Link2
If you want to get good performance, some amplification of the feedback signal is usually needed. If you just drive a MOSFET or any other transistor straight from a feedback coil (or whatever) the results will be quite pathetic. With a two-transistor push pull like the mazzilli/zvs/royer you can get alot better results, though.

Sure. To name a few: Link2 Link2 Link2

If you want simple&powerful, go for ZVS. Link2

I am actually planning to build a few sstc,a few being the mazilli driver and a class e and perhaps the mini sstc or steve wards design.
