Ive got laser fever again ,and bought another ssy1 head on ebay for an unbelievable price of 77$!!!Last one i bought was 125$....
So far its all mounted nicely on perf board with a small inverter to charge the capacitors. With just plain electrolytics, ive manged to put holes on Al foil(Yeehaw!)

Im currently looking for some photo flash caps, as they have lower ESR and all, which means faster pulse(good for Nd:Yag)
Id much rather find a large film capacitor, for better operation.Ive pushed it up to 40J in to the flashlamp(almost 3times the rated max)Q-switch still inside...

Pics to come soon(i need a new memory card for my digicam...says card uninitialized?)

stay tuned...
Matt

You might look for high voltage oil caps as well as photoflash electrolytics. I've got some 40uF/2500V oil capacitors I figure would be perfect. A little overkill in the voltage department but extremely low esr compared to electrolytics.

I bought one of those ssy1 also, haven't hooked it up yet. Would be interested to see pics...

I would just get one of the auctions for 4 original pfn's off ebay. There are none right now, but they turn up quite often smile
Parallel a few for bigger pulses shades

With your digicam, you need to format the card. It is uaually in the menu somewhere.

A laser head contains everything needed but the PSU/PFN....

I tried to format the card, still says uninitialized...

I was wondering why only xenon flashers and leds (for CW) could be used as pump sources...
There are lots of much easier IR sources dead

As I figured out ndyag resonator usually divides wavelenght, so it only needs to be in focus of some source of IR, why couldnt a some powerful halogen lamp with IR filter be used confused

As i never saw anything more powerful than 5mw diode I have to ask such noob questions... cheesey

Hey guys, we should probably take general discussion of ndyag lasers to the thread already setup for that and leave this one just for stuff directly relevant to mattrg2's project....tis the rules. Link2
