I have before made a simple 555 oscillator and im trying to make it again, how ever, i cant seem to get it to work. I tested all the connection with a multimeter and checked the schematic. I also replaced the 555 to no avail. The resistors are both 227ohms, and a 300ohm resistor before the LED. The capacitor is a 16v 220uf electrolyctic, and the power source is 14v (making sure that the 55 dosnt over heat).

When i apply power, the LED just stays on, and when i disconnect the power, the LED fades off, so the cap is charging.

Here on some pics of the breadboard layout, can any of you see anything wrong with it? Sorry for the blurry pics.

Note: the indented circle is on the top left (pin 1), both power strips are connected.

Overall:
T DSCF0102m F24d4f5

Left of 555 (pins 1-4):
T DSCF0105m Bd03c6b

Right of 555 (pins 5-8):
T DSCF0108m 46a312f

Thanks

I can't see the photo's clearly,
but 227 Ohms is MUCH too low,
timing resistors should be over 3.3 kOhm at least.

ive done it with theese resistors before, and worked.

I need a high frequency for 555 flyback driver, but to see, using led and bigger cap.

ile try to find higher resistance resistors on some old TV and psu boards to unsolder.

i just found this:http://www.nch.com.au/tonegen/ index.html

could i use that on the sawtooth wave form and connect my speaker to a MOSFET to drive the flyback? Can also adjust frequency.

According to the data sheet, R1 should always be >1K.

Setting this on one side (assuming that it does indeed still function outside the design values as you report) then with the values you have given, the device formulae give

On time (t1) is 0.0692 seconds.
Off time (t2) is 0.0346 seconds.
Duty cycle is 66.7%.
Frequency is 9.63 Hz.

Is this what you had expected?

Yea I’m sure it isn't meant to have that small of a resistor there. I accidentally mixed up my resistors when doing my first 555 circuit (stupid me) and a 47Ohm resistor ended up there and I blew out my 555. That’s also a rather large cap you have in there.

i just used that cap so i could see it blinking. I have no desired frequency atm, but when i get it working, i can try different values.

Im going to check my resistor values to see if it is truly 227ohms (im not sure, i just "remembered" me looking up that).

you dont need to high of a frequency for driving flybacks lets say 20khz maximum
