I went to 5 drug stores on my way home from school today. I have about 40 more flash circuits from my trip yesterday sitting in a bag. What do I do with them?

Maybe put them in series to get a nice 43kV 120uF cap bank tongue That would be 100kJ of energy amazed

I am sorry but you have to redo that calculation before someone bursts an embolism.

I see 734.4J if each were 120uF charged to 300V...
What to do with them?
hmm...
take them apart and... I don't know. You can do anything you want really.
Make a CW multiplier and have fun with drawing arcs (need a HV resistor so that you don't kill the diodes)?

That is more like it. Remember that when capacitors are put in series the capacitance does not add up. Look here: Link2

At least you have the opportunity to learn something very useful. Always try to verify your result using common sense and approximations.

I took your 100 kJ and divided it by 100 to get an approximation of the energy in every camera. When I got 1 kJ as the result I knew instantly that you had made a mistake.

If each camera had 1 kJ capacitors there would be a lot less surviving 4HV members and the battery must have delivered 200 W of power to charge the capacitor in 10 seconds.

I will have to try that sometime. Seems like a good way of making a first simple coilgun. Besides the caps and transformers, what else can you pull from all of those?

..hmm, what could one do with 136 flashlamps?

Regarding the caps, I don't know whether they are worth pulling out at all if you can easily get few bigger electrolytic caps for 700J, which would have far better characteristics.

Seriesing those small caps for high voltage may be interesting, but I don't know how useful.
