As there isn't a specific events place, I though this would be the best place. I'll be there both days demoing various stuff including the destruct-o-tron & high speed camera.
dorkfest
A weekend gathering at the edge of art, science and uselessness. Dorkfest 2006 is a two day showcase of inventions and explorations into electricity and it's (stranger) uses. The event will give the public an opportunity to see the creations from a global network of dorks. (Although others might call them artists, inventors, programmers and musicians.)
Previous events have seen cybernetic parrot sausages, megavolt destruct-o-trons, criminal robots and clocks that tell the time from prawn cocktail decay.
Sat 18th is a series of 'best of dorkbot' presentations, and Sun a more freeform thing with stuff set up for people to wander round and talk about.
