I found an odd componet in an old monitor. I have seen them before in monitors but never bothered finding out what they were. I tried entering their part numbers into alldatasheet.com but have found nothing. It is basically A small box with three leads. I took one apart and inside were two ceramic like disks; Both disks are of different size and are seperated by a metal plate. This metal plate is conneted to one of the leads of the device. The other two leads connect to spring like contacts that push the disks agianst the metal plate.
I hope I described it clearly enough for someone to be able to identify it.. I have been working with electronics for a long time so it bugs me not knowing what this thing is..
P.S. The disks look like the backs of pizoeletric speakers. Also on the circuit board the device was labled "PTH1'

Hi Dan, This device is a degausing thermistor which supplies the degausing coil, fitted around the CRT, with a desending current when the monitor is first turned on.
