Hi everybody.
I have built a simple HV generator using a 555 timer, mosfet and a flyback. Been having fun with plasma.
What I want to know is :
Which part emits negative ions? Is it the wire coming out of the top of the transformer? Or is it the connection on the bottom of the flyback which the top wire arcs to?
Also, I have a small plasma globe. Does the HV electrode emit positive or negative ions?

If the flyback has a built in diode, The red wire coming off of the top will be the positive lead (I think?), because it goes to the anode of the CRT. The other one will be high frequency AC.
