I have twenty of the 2n2 20kV ebay Chinese ones in a Cockcroft & Walton generator where they have been reliable to date - though I shouldn't want to run them without dielectric oil as the leads are set quite close together. I bought a batch of 30kV PIV 10mA rectifiers from the same source, and they too have proved good so far.
They would make for a pretty darn small MMC. Probably of only 2 or 4 caps. I don't know if I would trust them, though. They're a little cheap. Amazing1.com has .02uF 10kV tesla coil capacitors for $230! The Chinese ones are .02uF 15kV and only $15.

I've bought both diodes and capacitors from this Chinese firm and found them to be good.
Why pay over the odds for something 'amazing' when you can get standard parts from a source close to the manufacturer? No one could ever afford to make anything at the 'amazing' price!

I wonder how well these polypropylene caps will hold up under high pulse current conditions? I see the 15kv 0.02uF caps for example have a spec of: "Ip-p = 130A". That doesn't leave me feeling warm and fuzzy about the tens of kA or more they may see in a marx generator.

I bought 20 capacitors which were equivalent to those, CompWiz, only mine were 470pF. I just (today) used all of them in a bipolar Marx generator which seems to be working well. The only problem I had was from the capacitors arcing over, which was easily solved with some epoxy. Rated for 15kV and only 1cm between the leads. I wouldn't take them over 10kV.
Penguin has made a Marx generator from cheap Chinese caps as well. So they are tried and true.
