I'm trying to build a motor speed controller for a simple robot we're building for a competition. I'm trying to simplify this circuit to reduce the part count and reduce unneccessary features, but I'm not sure exactly how its operating.

If I'm correct, I believe its operating in push-pull mode, so I can delete the section marked "15A Current Limit" and the 10K resistor to pin 13. I'd like to operate it in single-ended so I only have to use one MOSFET per motor, but is there any way for me to still get 100% duty cycle if I do that? Can I short the 2 outputs together on 1 MOSFET gate even when operating in push-pull, since there dosen't seem to be any internal pulldown, or are there other issues? Its going to be operating around 1KHz or lower so I doubt that I need gate drivers. I want to use the 494 because I have several sitting around... Its going to be used to drive 2-5A motors.
