I had to post this ASAP before someone stole my idea and used my probe design, which is borrowed from Boonton of course, but here it is.

The R.F. Genie is a little adapter with low insertion loss that hooks up to your signal generator and tells you the RMS voltage of your generator. How nice of the designers not to tell us the voltage huh!

This first sloppy model uses NTE 583 Silicon Schottky diodes, which out perform the 1N34A and track to 100 MHz on the Boonton RF voltmeters. This one may suffer from some parasitic resonances because its messy, but its worth a shot. Later I will perfect it more. I just had to post it while I'm excited.

The probe is a simplified version of the copy. Input decoupling cap 10nF, 2 NTE 583's, the 100R resistors, and 10nf caps in parallel with 1uF electrolytics. That feeds the 1M 1.2M divider, and should be very close to calibrated to RMS voltage. That then feeds a 200mV DMM unit with a 10M input resistance and 100K divider for approximately 20V FSD. I tweaked the pot a little to give me the accurate readout. The rest is just the 9V battery, on switch, and there you have it, a little RMS voltmeter that goes from 1 KHz to 100MHz.

I also hope to take the logic pen probe case and make some R.F. Genie pen probes too! :0)
