I try to avoid starting new threads for no reason but this deal is worth the attention. I just bought one, I've been using it since last Friday, and I give it excellent ratings. I'm also not the only one who gives approval.

It runs a watered-down version of Ubuntu called gOS operating system. It puts out less then 20dB noise and consumes less then 20W! I can't really even tell when its on.

Walmart sold out in 2 weeks. I bought mine from:

Check it out!

You need to add at least one nought to that 2W figure, and then it is not average but idle. The PSU alone will use more than 2W while doing nothing.

You're right, I forgot the zippo...

The price is good and it is powerful enough for most uses. It would be grerat as a second computer or as the main computer for people that don't run things like Xilinx Webpack.

I guess that would rule me out, since i just got the webpack.
Can you get the operating system by itself? What can you run on it. Seems like it would be at least cool for browsing and looking up data sheets. I could stick one in the garage. My PSU draws ~11W idle.

Hmm I can think of one other use...Remote F@H On solar Panels. All you would need is a wifi card, and solar panels to provide enough power.

If you look at VIA's website, they cite upto 20W power consumption for the processor running the 'green' PC. They've also carbon offset every one of those 2-20W for the expected lifetime of the product, which is pretty cool.

Anyway, that's where the number comes from. The computer as a whole will use at least a couple times that, plus monitor.
