I decided to get a 5v super capacitor for general experimenting, and I found these on digikey...
at the bottom on the page, the nesscap supercapacitors
Capacitances from 1.5-400 Farads, all the ESRs are under .075 ohm/cell
I ordered one figuring it was a typo in the datsheet for the ESR, but to my surprise, when I had it charged and accidentally bridged the leads with a piece of .015" solder solder, it popped lightly, stuck and then the solder heated up and melted, drooping, breaking the connection...
They arent exactly cheap, but Ive defintiely seen worse for ultracapacitors. Not much fun for high voltage stuff, but could be pretty handy for some of the other neat stuff Ive seen here...

Supercapacitors are ment to replace batteries in some application. Supercapacitors are much more reliable than batteries. They are not for high power due to high ESR. Which one did you buy?

I got a 5.4v 2.5F cap, its 2 of the 2.7 v cells soldered onto a thin epoxy PCB and with more heatshrink over it. No specific project for it yet, though I'm sure I'll find a home for it somewhere.
